Leapfrog Leap’s Phonics Railroad
Leapfrog Leap’s Phonics Railroad is a great educational toy. The adorably designed Phonics Railroad captivates young learners with:
- motion,
- lights,
- color, and
- lots of sound effects.
Whistling and blowing its stack, it makes quick circuits around the track, controlled by command buttons that light up when pressed. But its educational functions require the included set of “smart” alphabet blocks.
Smart Alphabet Blocks
Five of the blocks sides show a letter and matching illustration. When placed face down in the coal-carrying car, the train says the letters name out loud, its phonetic sound, and a word for the illustration. The sixth block face is an icon that commands one of three familiar songs, or an instrumental.
A bridge, train station, and wrecking ball give kids more to do with the blocks (like storing, knocking down, or putting words together) when they aren’t listening to them. Requires four “AA” batteries (not included). –Diane Beall

I love this toy! We have not had any problems with the wrong letters like the other reviews. Maybe they have made an improvement. My 3 year old just thinks it is a lot of fun, but Mommy love that he is learning so much. He sings the song with the train so he is learning all of this letter sounds. He is even learning vowels because whenever you put one the the train, he chimes in the leaps voice and says “vowel aboard”
I have recommended this toy to anyone who would listen! I absolutely love it!

good learning toy
I bought this phonics train for my daughter. She loves the leap frog letter factory and this goes along with the DVD. I only wish there were more wagons that came with the train.

My kids love it, but I don’t
My kids love this train (ages 2 & 4), however there is only one train so there is constant fighting over who gets to control the train.
If you have boys, get this train! It is SO educational but durable. Ours has been dropped, kicked, sat on, you name it and it just keeps on going. The only problem with this toy is that you probably need to get the rechargable batteries since it requires so many and they really don’t last very long unless they’re Duracells (yes, there really IS a difference). This toy is just adorable and my other complaint is that I wish they would make more track and more blocks to put into the caboose.

Durable and fun
My son got this at 18 months and it’s been a favorite ever since (he’s 23 months now). It very easy for him to learn how to put in a block and push the go button.

I was baffled when I saw this in Target the other day. My son who i 5 1/2 got this for christmas 5 years ago and it is EXACTLY the same (thanks Leap Frog).

Educational and UNBREAKABLE!

All Aboard! We love this toy!
My son got this last Christmas, he was 21 months old. Months later he STILL loves it. Unlike Geotrax, he can actually help put a lot of the track together.

“Very Disappointing”
As a fan of leapfrog toys I am very disappointed withthis item. It constantly stopped running stating “I am off the track” even when it is not.

Great Toy . . . But Has Design Flaws
My 2 year old son received this as a gift and LOVED it. He played with it constantly and was easily one of his favorite toys. It’s very educational and fun.
